Sensory Assessments and Interventions

Our Mental Health Occupational Therapy (OT) services include specialised sensory assessments designed to explore how sensory processing patterns affect mood, behaviour, and daily functioning. Many individuals experience sensitivities or difficulties with regulating sensory input—such as sound, light, touch, movement, or social environments—that can impact comfort, participation, and overall wellbeing.

Through structured assessments and clinical observation, our OTs identify each person’s unique sensory profile. This understanding helps us uncover triggers for distress, overstimulation, or withdrawal, as well as opportunities to build on sensory preferences that promote calm, focus, and emotional regulation.

Based on assessment outcomes, we develop tailored sensory interventions to support everyday functioning. These may include practical strategies for self-regulation, environmental modifications, use of sensory tools or equipment, and personalised routines to enhance comfort and safety. Our approach empowers individuals to manage stress, increase participation in meaningful activities, and improve quality of life.
